Landlord Tenant
Landlord/Tenant law has been a core practice area of our firm for decades. We provide a full range of legal services to commercial and residential landlords and tenants (public and private) in areas such as leasing and subleasing, affordable housing and regulatory compliance, insurance coverage and environmental matters. We regularly represent clients in Housing and other courts, as well as before arbitration panels and mediators. We handle matters relating to nonpayment of rent, rent collection, lease violations, security deposits, quiet enjoyment, habitability issues, repairs and maintenance, common area maintenance and other charges, nuisance, lease options and renewals, Section 8 and other publicly subsidized housing concerns. Our commercial clients include the owners of shopping centers, office buildings and industrial properties, as well as commercial tenants. Our residential clients include the owners of large apartment complexes, property management companies, and smaller property owners such as owners of individual investment properties, as well as individual tenants and their families. Members of our landlord-tenant group are frequently asked to speak at seminars on topics relating to landlord/tenant relations, and have been appointed as Trial Referees and Fact Finders for the Housing Court.
