Eric Higgins is a co-managing partner of the firm and has been with the firm for more than thirty years. He practices in the area of family law and has extensive courtroom experience at the trial and appellate levels. His experience and expertise span all aspects of family law, including alimony and spousal support, cohabitation issues, the identification and division of assets, the dissipation of assets, fraudulent nondisclosure of assets and income, earning capacity issues, child custody and parenting issues, child support, mediation and arbitration, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

Eric has been recognized by his peers for inclusion in the publication The Best Lawyers in America, in the field of family law.  He also has been selected as a Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers in the field of Family Law and has been recognized as one of the area’s “Top Lawyers” in Connecticut Magazine, Greenwich Magazine, Stamford Magazine, and New Canaan/Darien/Rowayton Magazine. He is also AV Preeminent Peer Review rated, the highest legal and ethical rating available, by Martindale-Hubbell.

Eric earned his undergraduate degree from Dickinson College (B.A. cum laude, 1986) and his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law (J.D. with honors, 1991). Before joining the firm in 1992, Eric served as law clerk to the Honorable Maxwell Heiman, Connecticut Appellate Court. He is a member of the Family Law and Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association and the Family Law and Litigation Sections of both the Connecticut and Fairfield County  Bar Association.   He has lectured to the Fairfield County Bar Association on the subjects of deposition techniques and appellate practice and has taught appellate advocacy at the University of Connecticut School of Law.
